Whether you’re at the cottage, out in the arctic or at the Olympic Games in Sochi, you might find it a little difficult to access your email or make a call. The Iridium Go acts as a WiFi hotspot with a radius of thirty meters for up to five smartphones, tablets or laptops. There won’t be any Netflix streaming, but the satellite signal should be strong enough to send messages and check your twitter (if you can wait a few minutes). No price point yet, but Iridium says its, “an affordable solution to truly global connectivity”. Whether affordable means for the average camper or the Bruce Waynes of the world; remains to be seen.
