The Rift by emerging developer Oculus is a Kickstarter project that has gained a lot of steam; surpassing its goal of $250,000 by, oh, 2 million. Speaking of steam, Valve and a handful of other big games developers are already behind the project. But what makes this VR system stand out? To start, the massive field of view. The Rift boasts a 110 degree viewing angle as opposed to the standard which is only around 30 to 40 degrees. It also features stereoscopic 3D rendering and extremely low latency head-tracking.  The Rift isn’t available in stores yet, but you can get the developer kit with a copy of Doom 3 for $300. $275 if you want to build it yourself.
